Breeding question for feeder fish

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Convicts are great for feeders depending on the type of fish your feeding. The babies are strong and will usually survive

The parents will protect them to death so make sure you move the babies to another tank once they have hit a good 1" or so then you can keep the parents breeding more frequently it worked for me.

I culture red wiggler worms (AKA composting worms) - super easy, safe, nutritious and readily accepted by every fish I've tried to feed them to.

My culture is in a bin in my garage. I drop our family's veggie and fruit scraps and shredded junk mail.

Haven't bought live or frozen food in years.

It takes a couple of months for baby convicts to grow to decent size. In warm weather, red wigglers will double every week or so...

That's a good idea I'm going to steal that idea. Wigglers, convicts, and probably try doing a small water garden for guppies over this summer move them in my garage over winter but worth a try getting them moving so I have a ready made meal for my fish before I order them this sumer
