I'm hoping to start breeding rosy red (aka fathead) minnows for my other fish as feeder fish. I'm thinking ten gallon setups at room temp, ph7.0, 16 hours of lighting to trigger spawning and lots of rock work, pvp pipe cuttings and plants.

Would a dozen fish be reasonable per setup? Also, I'm having trouble sexing the species.. Will sexing really even be an issue?

I was hoping to introduce a large shoal (50-60) to my 300g pond this spring that only houses small commons, would it be possible for the reds to reproduce in the pond?

Thanks for reading :)
