breeding RTC with smaller Pimelodidae species?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I know there is a RTCxParoon(P.Sanitwongsai) hybrid although I've only seen a juvi from someone here who had a thread or post of it.
So maybe a cross with P.myanmar 23cm; P.mahakamensis 18.2cm; P.macronema 30cm? But I'm not a geneticist, just throwing around wild ideas.

Heres necrocanis' marblexRTC :http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?61968-hybrid-catfish/page13

Also according to necro he has kept a tsn x p. blochii hybrid, and I think the Pimelodus blochi is much smaller than RTC.

Yep Blochiis only get to 10-12". Big fish but NOTHING compared to RTCs.

are you trying to cross breed lion and a cat?

Possibilities are endless. I would suggest stripping eggs from a RTC and milking sperm from a smaller cat, but vice versa may have better results. Trial and error. And just because rtc eggs and whatever sperm doesnt work, do try the vice versa. simply switching those factors could drastically change your success rate. Have fun trying to strip a rtc though, ahahaha
