Hey guys. So because of the devastation on my last tank set up Iv changed my whole outlook and idea of what I want to do for now. So Iv decided to get in to breeding and made a beginning breeding set up in my basement. I have 4 x 5 litre plastic tubes set up with a wet dry filter underneath the sump is a 45 litre cooler had it sitting around so figured I’d use it. I got a 30 gallon tank and 43 gallon tank to use as grow outs. So this is the set up I have at the moment obviously going to add and change as I grow but wanted to get it started. The pump i am using is a 1500 gph so big enough to add tanks as I grow. The wet dry contains filter floss, layer of ammonia removing floss and plastic scrubbys as bio balls. Anything else recommended to add in the sump to aid in breeding. I’m thinking doing killifish and G.B.R in the tubs so also added almond leaves and will put some Bogwood in for water softening. And I have a pair of zebra parrots that are in the 30 g separate filtration on that and keep the 40 for grow out but will have more tanks by then so maybe not......I have permission for a fish room of the wife not saying money isn’t a option but what I can do myself I will what can be cheaper option will free more money for other stuff I can’t skimp on.

Nice set up! Good to have an understanding wife- wish mine were as accommodating .

Look forward to seeing your success!

Everything except from the pumps and heaters was bought from general stores. The tubs are from ikea $4 each the plumbing fittings pipes an flexi cable, plus theirs a 4” waste at the back came to $30 but that’s with the wife’s employer discount old dresser as stand and unused aquarium light. Heater 300w $25 and unused 50w preset heater. pump $30 so it’s been a cheap set up. Could have been cheaper if I shopped around or used second hand equipment these are canadian dollars too so in America these will be cheaper again. I’m no expert I’m learning so much as I go Iv had tanks since I was young but still feel like I’m new the amount that change and adapt to modern styles.

I will be keeping records and updates on here for anyone interested to watch But I’ll be leaving the whole system to cycle for two weeks before I do anything else. So once I get started I will update.

Yes. That’s not a permenant fixture when I made the wet dry I had it so it sat in the cooler perfect fit. Sat down about 3” but then I wanted to add more water and this caused the wet dry to be submerged so used this to hold it on the top. Then I addd the leaves An didn’t want the pump clogging. I’m going to get a cloth mesh bag and place the leaves in and tie them to th side. And get another lid from a large tote and adjust to replace the grate that is holding up. These 2 pieces of metal was added yesterday so not worried about any corrosion just yet.
