Also, I do not mean to be a party pooper, but a sump system is not ideal for breeding.
Most people use sponge filters.
You can lose fry down the overflows.
IF you put something in the overlfow to prevent the fry from going down to the sump, often it restricts flow too much unless your pump is very slow. If you do use this system to breed, make sure you put 4 species which are easy to tell apart, so you can eventually sort out any fry that end up in the sump.. For example, 4 killies of the same family would be bad, as it would be very difficult to separate the females, and they can hybridize.
