Breeding size for ebjd? 4.5" big enough?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I think they are big enough to breed already. IMO if the male is double the size of the female, and the female is at least 3-4", then they should be able to breed, but they have to pair before they would decide to breed. Not 100% sure if this info is correct.

Your information is correct. Is the female the EBJD? If so I would wait until she is bigger. Female EBJD often have fertility issues as well as being less aggressive than a BGJD or regular JD female. If the male is the EBJD then you should have no problems with a female that size. As Andy said they need to be paired up before they will breed. Good luck!

No, the males the ebjd I think... he's got hugely long fins sooo... the female has a little bit of blue (a few dots) but the male is just covered. Here's some pics

Picture 2 looks like the male and 4-5 look female if im correct then they should be able to breed. I am not 100% on this cause I am still new to this hobby.

I think after looking at the pics again that they might be 2 males, not sure though.

Well then why the night I got the little one was she(if female) and the big male sleeping together? And why would the big male go out of his way to shoo the sexist parrot fish(male) who hates everything female (killed his female parrot partner a was months ago it was cold blooded murder) who wasn't even bothering the big one but rather bullying the new female? Perhaps love at first sight? Cause it would be rather rare to find two males sleeping together on first day...
