I prefer to keep 2 males with 4 females. 6 adult motoros is pushing the capacity of a 500 gallon tank, otherwise I'd keep more females. My opinion is that for consistant breeding to occur, 2 males is best. A lone male doesn't seem to feel the breeding drive as much, maybe because he knows there's no competition. More than 2 males and you're just wasting money on feed and wasting space which could be filled with a female. Obviously if you're just in it for the hobby, the ratio and cost doesn't matter. But if you are trying to breed, especially for profit, it does make a difference.
When the pups are born I put them in a seperate tank running on the same filter system as the parents. It is easier to feed the pups when they are away from adult rays and other fish.
I remove the males from the system after the females have had 3 litters in a row. After the females get a 3 month rest, I put the males back in.

Thanks. The marbles are adjusting well.

I like the tanks too. Unfortunately they cost quite a bit more than giant vats, which are a much more economical way to breed. As I expand, I will likely be utilizing both styles so I can keep costs in control and still have some nice tanks for improved ray viewing.
