Breeding tanks

Just go with these http://www.thatpetplace.com/pet/prod/205792/product.web for small tanks and the fish will still be able to breed. They're cheap, hold up and will work in a planted tank, keep an extra on hand for emergencies.

Single filtration for what your wanting to do will cost more than these individual filters. You can even make replacement filter material cheap.

The water comes out the top of the "spout". Just put the whole thing under water. I have a "reptofilter". Fry can get sucked up in mine.

if u dnt like the bubbles from a sponge filter justs tick a power head on top of it and face the flow of it down so it doesn't disturb the surface.
