I have a pair of blue acars that i would like to breed but just cant seem to get them there. I have the temp at 28, ph at 7.5-8 and them in there own tank 2ft with river stones drift wood. They do the funky fish dance and display there colours but just wont go all the way. Oh but my rainbows are on there second lots of eggs in less than 2 weeks and there in with 3 oscars

You ever heard of the saying, "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink"? I would say it's the same thing.

Did you start off with these two only, or did you get a pair from a group that you had?

mabey the males got sexual performance issues? well what else can ya do. just wait and see, what degrees is 28 centegrade in farenheight? i'd put it up somwhere in the 80-84 degree range.

do you have nothing to add to anything on this forum regarding fish?

roughly 1/3 of your last 25 posts have been bumps.

I think could be a good idea : 1) sit down and wait with patience

or
2) adding a couple of dither fishes (e.g. Carnegiella Strigata).Dither fishes improve the skills of the couple.

I started off with the male and another female. Though i lost the female to a bac infection or something was very funky and sad to see. The male also came down with it but managed to pull through maybe he was damaged by that.

water change......then live food..... Live food is a good kick start...maybe some bloodworms or daphnia.....

lots of blood worms, she likes beast heart. I had a divider between the rainbow tank today i removed it. The rainbows are sitting on eggs. She got really exited when she saw them, shimmering at him and flashing colours. He did respond but not as much she also seems to be scared of him. He has gone off food in the last week or two. Still eats but not much i did have some flake that were just cheapo ones that i feed to him one day when i ran out he loved them and now turns his head at anything else and i cant find more.
