Read this article. It's quite old but very very interesting.
This guy claims that ITs, NTTs, and NGTs are being bred in Thailand. They are having a hard time breeding STs however.
I'm quite surprised that even Thai people do not even know about this (If all this was in fact true). I think they use chemicals to get them to breed.
If you think about it, maybe tigers really are being captive bred. Currently there are thousands and thousands of little ITs flooding the market worldwide. It's hard to believe they were all wild caught.

That link is very interesting because the rainy season has just finished.
It's also the first time i've seen Dats like that and i go to the same place for food for my other fish.

For example, if you cross breed a Frontosa, they will show up in weird patterns, and same thing goes for Clown Loach. (The fish children sex with their parents)

If there are a lot of these oddball pattern tigers showing up, it could only mean that they are breeding with the same generation of fish in the same pond over and over again. (to produce the deformed patterns / bars)

I'm going to Chatuchat market now to see if i can find the tiny NTTs again, this time with phone. I do believe the guy from the other thread, i live in thailand and know how resorcful Thais are, especially with fish. I am not here to try and prove something that others don't know by writing about it only. If they are bred i want to see it.
I'm just interested in the topic.

interesting. quite plausible.

The link that was posted....thats 2 years old, and we still have no further evidence. Strange that. (not aimed at u Fishes33, I'm just to lazy to start another post )

Classic chassis- keep us posted. and if you do go market, bring camera and sneak some pictures if you find anything groundbreaking..

I think what that guy in the other thread said is true. I don't see a reason why someone would make such an elaborate lie just to make us think that they can breed tigers. Also, everything he posted was all plausible.
Only strange thing is that we haven't seen any concrete evidence til now

Just like Blood Parrot, do Taiwanese ever tell the world of how they created the fish??? Does it mean Blood Parrot exist in the wild????



This is my educated guess...

CST (Cambodian Siamese Tiger) - NGT x ST, but the NGT's trait is being dominant over the ST, so the tiger sppear to be like NGT. Or it could end up as a fuzzy ST or a fuzzy NGT. Just like Green Texas x Blood Parrot, the texas pattern stay, but it inherit the color of the blood parrot

3 Bar Indo - ST x Indo, where ST's trait is dominant over the Indo, and sometimes it will result in the fourth bar showing up faintly or to have 3 bars tail

Oddball pattern Indo - result of inbreeding of Indo or cross over with other type of datnoids many many times. For example, if you take a Burundi Frontosa x Kigoma Frontosa, it will end up showing wavy bars or incomplete bars

NTT with dots - NTT x Indo, the fourth bar or the dot is showing, to show that the fish is not a pure bred

I just got back, i do have a few pictures on my phone which I’m trying to upload to my pc as I write.
Firstly, I’m not trying to persuade anyone of anything, what I know about Dats can be written on the back of a postage stamp.
I looked at about 6 shops in total; every shop I visited had at least 50 Dats in 20 gal tanks for sale. Some more. Mainly indos and NTTs. All of them were the same size fish as in the photos I have. Every shop told me “farm”. Only the people selling on the street would let me take pictures, the shops were definitely not happy with the idea, (one guy got really angry with me and called me a ******* **** in Thai, which is really not cool.) Somehow I don’t think I’ll get to see a farm.
Now as I said I’m no expert but I’ve never seen as many dats before, and I presume Indos are not in the water ways of Thailand. In addition please remember I only went to one location (chatuchack market, there are two in Bangkok) and there are other locations nationwide. If they are wild caught that means that on any given day around hatching time, which seems to be the end of the rainy season, there are thousands of Indo and NTT dats being pulled out of the rivers in Thailand.
As soon as I get the pictures up you’ll see, IMO the indos are too small to have been caught in a river in another country and been shipped her for sale at 3 us dollars each. I may be wrong and if I am please tell me.
Give me a bit of time to sort the phone out, I’ve never done it before.
