I wouldn't slow down on the feeding for the female.. If anything you want to feed her more so she'll produce eggs to be more in the mood to lay.. Bigger female = bigger batches of eggs. She should start slowing down in growth before the male does. If you aren't in a hurry, just continue to grow the male out.
