Breeeding??

Im pretty sure i have a male and female bristlenose. They seem to often chase each other around and bump eachother. It doesnt seem aggressive. Its actually pretty fun to watch these guys. Is it possible for them to breed? Or are they a species that isn't known to breed in the aquarium? And if it is possible how do they breed, eggs? Are they good parents throughout the process? Also, one is black but the other seems to be an albino. does this change anything?

I'm pretty sure there is video from the Solid gold aquatics channel on YouTube where her albino long finned bristle nose breed in the aquarium and lay eggs. Also I reckon the fact that one is normal colour and the other is albino shouldn't cause any issues as long as they are the same species, but I might be wrong because I Haven't bred these before.

They are quite easy to breed, yours are probably "doing the dance" right now. They will lay eggs and the male will care for them if you leave them with him, though it might be smart to pull the eggs and put them in a breeder net in the tank, because catching all the small fry would be difficult. Though they are generally pretty good parents, sometimes (as with most if not all fish) the parents will eat the eggs if they get spooked. So, something to be aware of.

Throw a cave or several 1.5” or 2” diameter pvc with end caps in there for them to breed in. Male will trap female and breed, he will care for the eggs.

Your first batch should all be brown unless the female also carries albino genes...if so, you’ll get a mix of brown and albino.

They are easy to breed.

I breed these regularly. I use terra-cotta planter spikes for caves really cheap and they love them.
As the others have said the male will trap the female in a cave and spawn once she does her part he will kick her out and guard the cave.
I usually check with a flashlight and as soon has they absorb the yoke sack and become free swimming, I pull the cave and move them to another tank.
If they are both albino you should get albino babies. Mine must be true because I never get the common color offspring.

Thanks everyone! I'm very excited now. I had no clue that this could happen. They are both only around 3inches, maybe 3ina half. I wonder if they're sexually mature yet. Either way, im happy to know i have a good chance of a spawn at some point
