Hi everyone, been lurking around here for a few months now and I must say, I have learned a ton of infofrom everyone. Now my question, In Feb. I received an order from Rapps which included a pair of nics, a pair of Eliotti, a pair of cutteri, a pair of rotkeils,a pair of the Rio cabayo convicts he had at the time, a synspilum, and finally a breidohri. I was in the process of setting up a new 90 gal tank, so I grew them out for a bit in a 20 gallon. The nics actually went into my 55 immediately and let me tell you, they grew so fast and had spectacular color within a month. The male now is 4 1/2- 5" and the female is pushing 4". All the other fish have had normal growth rates except the breidohri. I got it at @.75" is and 4 months later hes maybe 2" or so. He chunky, eats like a pig, is not being bullied, just not growing very fast. For comparison, the synspilum is around 4 1/2" and chunky. I got it at 1 1/2". Even the rotkeils, rio cabayos and eliotti are bigger than him( or her). I have kept him in the 20 for now and even got some lyonsi's growing out in there for the last month that were smaller than it and now are getting bigger than him. Is this normal? Do they grow THAT slow? Looking forward to hearing from everyone. BTW, just for reference, twice a week 50% water changes, feeding NLS, omega one, blood worms, asst veggies and frozen brine shrimp. Parameters are good.
Thanks, Andy.
