Breidhohri growth rate?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I had 'breidohri' and 'Coatzacoalcos' pairs spawn at the same time. After 3 months, the 'Coatzacoalcos' are 1.25-1.5" and the 'breidohri' are barely 1". So the 'breidohri' fry are noticeably slower growing. IME other Paraneetroplus species that are slow growing are 'regani' , 'argentea' as well as many of the Astatheros. And Madagascan Paretroplus are really slow!! Here's a pic of a 20 month old male 'breidohri' (at ~ 6")

OP, any update on the Breidorhis growth since June? I have 3 that I'm growing out and they're getting some size but nowhere near what I'd like. It's a little frustrating. Thanks.

+1 here Jake! If those are from me, their siblings are growing slow as well. They can breed small though.

Wow. I was surprised when I saw this thread I started 6 months ago..lol. Funny thing is she just went on a bit of a growth spurt in the last month or so. Shes about 4 inches now after nearly a year. Heres a pic of her from about a month ago.DSCN8045.JPGDSCN8124.JPG

Thanks Cavamart. I work at it lol. I really wanted that pair of Sajica you had for sale a few months ago, they were gorgeous. I really need to get her a boyfriend ;)

Hey James, yeah bro these are the ones you sent me with the black belt. The BB is around 5" and the Breidorhis are maybe only 2 1/4". Does that sound about right? They're healthy and get weekly 75% water changes and eat like pigs.

The growth rate is correlated with the ultimate size of the fish. From what I read, Breidorhis is smaller than most Vieja and this is why it grows slower.

I haven't found Regani grow slowly at all. I picked up 2 of them one year ago that were a little over an inch long, (I sold one) and now is 9"+.

Nice Breidhohri's everyone!
