Bricks

Is it ok to put bricks in a fish tank? I always thought it'd look cool to have the back wall of my tank made of bricks have some missing to make caves maybe some sticking out like ledges should I coat them in something? Would just a brick be ok?

Well bricks are essentially baked clay kinda like pots, not sure the effect on ph but I believe clay wouldn't change it. However I would let soak in hot water for a day then put in oven on 275° for 10 min. I'd then AFTER THEY COOL let them soak again just to be certain ALL the chemicals and toxins that may have accumulated are 99.9% gone!

I had red clay bricks in my sa tank with no problems. No change to Ph or anything.

Obviously depends on the composition of the bricks, and the fish you're keeping, but I've seen it done before. Makes a great "reef" for rift lake cichlids.
