My common pleco is probably 8", I should get maybe 2 smaller bristle nose or commons in his place. I don't mind the algae on the driftwood, or even the front of the tank as it comes of easy with my mag. What bothers me is the buildup on the rear wall, I have a solid black background and it accumulates and becomes unsightly. It's not a easy to clean with all the inlets/outlets and heaters on the back wall. Also, it's starting to grow rather quickly on the sand itself, which I didn't think would happen, so it constantly looks dirty. I will switch my bulbs to 10k and see if that helps as well.
