bring the river home!

You do not need to bring water home for sure that is a total waste of time and energy. As far as the sand you could bring it home I would clean it real good and then try to dry it out but you probably would be fine with just puting it straight in your tank. You still will need to cycle the tank and use declorinator. If you collect your own native fish I would treat them for parisites when you get them.

I'm with red...natives are neat, Ive got a few bluegill and a pumpkinseed atm but def treat for parasites, who knows whats around...

the only natives ill get is maybe a catfish and when he gets to big ill release him in my buddies pond. and a gar if i can manage to catch one small enough. smallest one ive caught was about 2 feet. little to big. i did however catch a catfish about 7 inchs long the other day but put him back since tank isn't set up.

lastnight i filled the tank about 3/4 the way to work on my filters. they both run, one is primed and doin its job, and the other will only half way prime so i got to do some work on it today maybe. either way they both kinda suck i think. but will have to make due. i can't afford an FX5 or ne thing. actually, its going to hard for me to afford to do much of ne thing to the tank besides set it up. so many bills!!!

so ne one have ne tips and tricks on how to get better filtration and maybe some current going?

oh and something just hit me i seen some time ago while "sniffing" around this forum.

those rubbermaid stacked plastic drawers. i think i will use that as a sump along with me 2 ****ty hob filters. drill holes in 2 out of 3 of the drawers, put some filter floss in the top one, some sponges in the seconds on, a pump in the bottom one, run a return hose from the pump back up to the tank, rig it in there some how to maybe give a little current, or ill go buy a pc of pvc pipe, drill holes in it, cap one end, connect the other end to the pump hose, and make a drop system.......i have the drawer. the pump i can pick up from harbor freight for pretty cheap just need to make sure its submersible.

ahhh got to love brain storms that sometimes end with a brain fart.
