My best girl actually suggested I start this thread so props go to her! This Is something that I have been doing my fish room for about a year now.

As many of you know, technology is continuing to advance and change, and I for one, and very excited about some of the new options. Below are a few of the things that I have installed in my fish room, and if you have any other suggestions of things it would be fun to mess around with please do share.

Wi-Fi enabled outlets and switches: I now run all of my lights on these outlets, and the main lights for my room on a Wi-Fi switch. I also run water polishing pumps in things that our supplemental that I would like to be able to turn on and off on these outlets. If you look around, you can find them for around 5 to 10 dollars apiece. Do not run after Home Depot and drop $35 apiece, they are basically the exact same thing, not necessarily any better, and her overpriced. The cool thing about having your fish room set up on this is, you can turn on and off all of your lights and supplements using your phone.

Wi-Fi enabled thermostat and humidity monitor: I installed one of these about six months ago, and set it to notify me on my phone if the temperature in the fish room ever dropped below 70° or ever got above 80°. Since then, it is only happened once, and it didn’t turn out to be a big deal. However, this gives me an awful lot of peace of mind.

Wi-Fi enabled motion controllable camera: I just installed one of these a couple of weeks ago, and I absolutely love it! It has Infared, so it works even if all of the lights are off, and it any point, I can pull it up on my phone and move it around and check all of the tanks in the room. I can swivel it down using my phone to check the Floor and make sure there’s no water, etc.

Wi-Fi enabled water alarm: I haven’t purchased one of these yet, but I am planning to fairly soon. This would be a good back up, and would notify me if I accidentally left the water running and over fill the tank, or if one of my tank springs a leak, the alarm could wake me up even in the middle of the night and let me know there is a problem.

Please comment and let me know if any of you use any of these items or if you have any other items that you enjoy using!

Have some Bluetooth outlets on all my tank filters. That’s about it for now.

My dad has a reef tank and he has an app for the light to change the type of light, but I know not many people have reef tanks (let alone this kind of light, this light is meant as a supplemental light, not a main one)

My friend has a coral tank and has the Neptune system all hooked up. JK47 JK47 has a similar Neptune system for his freshwater setup I believe. Been a while since seieng his thread.

I started to go down this road, a good part of the hobby is certainly moving toward higher tech. I tried some quite simple Wifi Wireless Remote Control Sockets, to control lights and pumps.

They worked fine when I was home but I stopped using them because while on a business trip the electricity went out for several hours, so the Wifi router went off, and when the power came back on it didn't automatically re-connect with the sockets, so I had no control over anything. After that I figured old school timers were safer, so the wifi sockets are sitting on a shelf.

These were affordable and quite popular Sonoff S20's -- but they're pretty simple, I would think with the right knowledge and better equipment the problem I ran into could be rectified, esp. if you had an auto-power back up system (mine is manual, hooking an inverter up to a car battery).
