  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
breeding age is about 1 1/2 years old or about 3 inch i have had mine breed smaller than that but its not common you need lots of cave or pvc 3/4, feed them lots of black worms 4 a week do a 50% water change to mimic the rainy season and watch the magic happen once the egg are laid the male will do the rest he will fan them and Gard them till they have hatch and the egg yoke has went away

i just got mine yesterday.

sorry to hyjack your thread but, at what age/size can you determine the sex of them?

the male will have the bristles, and the females will not. we noticed ours at about 1 1/2 inches in size. we have a female black one with white spots on his boddy and white outline on her tail, and we have a male albino lots of bristles. good for eating and lots of pooping lol

Yes but only sub-adults to adults. Just my rotten luck all turn out to be females especially the long-finned bristlenose pleco which cost a lot. Where did you get yours? I have yet to find male BNs.
From one of the petshops here in the Philippines

Plenty of caves so the male can claim one and entice his lady to enter.

Male will have noticablly larger bristles.
