Bristlenose plecos breeding

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Pics are up! let me upload them. They just hatched and dad was still watching them. Since dad isnt going to teach them anything else besides protecting them, i removed them from the cave and put them in a breeders net. ill give them food in a day or so before the sack fades and start growing them out.

The pic is of 2 of the babies and a standard wafer. Idk what kind it is, think Topfin. its from my friends bag, i use hakari. I plan to feed them New life spectrum for cichlids, algae wafers, fresh veggies. What else would anyone suggest.

Thank you very much. Dad took GREAT care of them. I dont think he has left the cave to eat in over 2 weeks. I gave him some bloodworms since i think he needs the extra protein. When/if do you think they will give me another batch?

holy crap thats a lot of tiny plecos.

I know right. Its crazy

How they all doing? I had a similar amount of babies from my pair, and after about 5 days from hatch 80% had developed some sort of fungi bloom on them/their egg sac. And I ended up getting about 20 babies from the whole lot. I had removed them completely from dad though, maybe the parents play a role in their early stages?

When I have bn spawns I remove the female as soon as I see eggs. The male will let the fry out when they are ready, the males are usually really good about protecting the fry. They will eat frozen french cut green beans as soon as they absorb the egg sack.

first off...congrats on the spawns and hatchlings....second off....how does one sex plecos? I would like to try spawning them but have no idea how to sex them.
