clove oil or freezing is the conventional method, again, sorry that it happened to you

Freezing? That sounds cruel... putting him in a bucket of water and putting that into the freezer? :(

Then use clove oil. It puts them to sleep like a sedative.

How big is your Gar? If its still small, does it:
1) effect its growth rate?
2) will it possibly recover as it grows?
Just wondering. Sorry it happened, though I heard its common in Gars.

if your gar is moving and eating then there is no need for euthanizing it...it will live without any problems..i had a gar with a broken back...the broken back even healed but it unluckily broke its back again and went on to live with that broken back..the fish dosent look good i agree but it still lives. rest depends on you.

1) yes, it will affect its growth rate..they might not grow to their maximum potential.

2) it can recover depending on the extent of the injury. mine did recover after it broke its back.

move to its own tank and i would say pm bigrich. rich has repaired many gars backs with alot of success. Dont kill it life isnt over for that fish!!!!!
