IN A PLACE
So I picked up a 360g glass tank with steel stand a few days ago. During the move, the bottom panel cracked. :(
I'm $400 into it and it will cost between $300 and $600 to repair.
Also, there are chips on the edges of the viable parts of the tank.

I'm not sure how to replace a panel on a tank that large--any suggestions?

Should I repair it or just take the lump?

Just take it apart and make a DIY tank. :D

that is definitely an option....do you suppose I can build/assemble it directly on the stand so there is no lifting or moving of the tank itself?

i commented on your other tank. i would lay it on its side and make a sweet ray tank! remove the back panel which is now the top, and use the glass to fix the bottom pane which will now be the back, and use another piece to cover the top, which will now be the front pane

I like the way you think! However, I don't have the space in my house for that footprint (stupid beach house!). Also, i would have to flip the stand so it would only be 20" high. It would make a pretty cool touch tank though!

i would go for that man! that would be sweet!

why not just replace the bottom with plywood and coat it? You may have to do some framing but other than that you won't notice at all, the substrate will hide it.

that's a great idea! Plywood will be much easier to drill holes in as well. The stand has a 3" lip so it will be hidden. (SEE PIC) There is only about 1/2" of play on each side once it is in the stand so framing it might be difficult.

Should I take the entire tank apart and then rebuild it with fresh silicone?

Also, once I epoxy the plywood, can I just silicone the tank to it? What type of framing will it need?
