There is a creek near this river that holds thousands of brook sticklebacks in it. I've actually tried keeping one but they are not the hardiest fish I've encountered( even though the thing was transported in a water bottle and survived the trip home) anyway could a couple of sticklebacks live in a cooler with minnows( going in my 600 gallon pond soon) and what do I need to keep them alive?

They'll do fine in a cooler, they might pick at your minnows as they're quite aggressive. They need well oxygenated water and good water quality. I've never had any success keeping them alive on prepared foods; frozen and live foods were taken readily. They need frequent feeding or else they waste away. Minnows might outcompete them for food so make sure they are getting adequate food.

Ive actually had reasonably good luck with these in a smaller well planted aquarium, and they seem to love baby brine, and bloodworms. I find most of mine at Gander Mountain, in the baitfish tanks, believe it or not. :)
