Brook Trout Questions

I would go with a mix of river species just for the variety. Of course what you can keep will depend on the size of your trout but here in northern lower michigan my list would be brookie, creek chub, white sucker and northern red sided dace. At least until the trout ate the dace.

I've contemplated doing a complete community of a wild brookie stream with a trio of brooks, 4-5 big creek chubs, my bullhead, and either an NHS or Moxostoma.
 
I have done brook trout before. I will have them again. I made the mistake of having them without a ready chiller. I was using ice when it got to hot. Ran out of ice and the melted. I had 3 in the tank and it wasn't an issue. The trout I got lived in a very small system. They didn't get very large in this system and they never left a pool that was only 12' long by 4-5' wide. This pool holds about 150 fish.

Next round tank will be in the basement. Instead of a 55gal(trout were small) I will have my 72"*30"*18". I also will have a mini fridge diy chiller running.

Cool fish but yeah aside from their beauty they don't do much activity wise.
