Today was the day i picked up my ray, they had been at my lfs for about a month on hold for me.( i wanted one they ordered 3) my tank was fully cycled a few weeks ago and my water parameters have been steady for the whole time, as well i have the next few days off (holiday in canada) i figured today was a good a day as any to go pick him up.
I posted pics a while ago of them at the lfs in a thread called "id please"
conclusion seemed to be Orbignyi (sold at my lfs as common stingray)
I went to the lfs today and looked at the 3 they had in the tank and 2 on them seemed to be still on the skinny side one of them you would see the pelvic bones,
as for the one i picked... I sat there for about 45 mins or so watching them before i picked one, and one of them was constantly searching for food even before i asked the lfs staff to feed them so i could see them eat. The one i picked was clearly the most healthy/active one they had, he was not the biggest but it was the... well, i'll say he is the fattest of them all.
I took one of the blue 15g rubbermaid containers with me to transport him in along with my battery powered air pump.
I got him home and started my slow drip siphon useing one of my small airlines, about an hour later i got him into his new home.
He is now doing great, a few mins after i put him into the tank he is up and swimming around checking eveything out and looking for food.
A few hours went by and i thought, what the heck, lets try and see if he eats, and he did!
The lfs had been feeding them blackworms and chopped krill, so thats what i bought, i tryed tossing in a few bits of fine chopped krill in and he ate them up with no hesitation.
So all in all i think he is doing great, and i will post some pics up in a bit as i get my pictures uploaded to the comp.
Just thought i'd share this with everyone as all of us here are all very excited about our new ray.
