How well did you rinse your sand, and how much silicate was in the sand period...
What you have eating the diatoms, and what you are doing to remove them.
Its not serious, just so long as you have done things the right way and the tank isnt stocked with things that might be hurt by the diatom bloom.
Thoroughly rinsing your substrate before use and astrea snails are the best solutions I have found.
