Brown algae

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well, the phosphate is coming from the tap water. Yay! Now what do I do?

Phosphate pads or any other phospate removing media. Also, rinse the bloodworms in old tank water after it has been defrosted to prevent the blood worm juice from adding more nutrients for algae.

I do do that, but have gotten a little lazy lately and chunked whole pieces in there. I guess I gotta start taking more care.
Tomorrow is a water change day, I’ll test the parameters on all the tanks before and after. I’m curious as to why I do not have algae problems in the other 3 tanks.

So I put some phosphate absorbing media in a few day's ago, and the algae is noticeably diminished all ready. Water is clearer too.

Lots of water changes, cut back the feeding, Seachem Phosguard and a Bristle Nose Pleco. If it's a new or fairly new setup this is not uncommon and should go away on it's own.
