This just keeps getting worse and worse. What is making it grow like crazy? It seems to be the worst on the back glass. It's not really on anything other then the glass. Tank has been up and running for probably almost two years now.

Not in the slightest! I was hoping you had a cunning plan lol...i get it all over the back of my tank and on plants etc at the moment I just scrape it off as part of my maintenance. I think it is something to do with excess nutrients in the water. I have lots of predators so even with 50% water changes twice a week my water isn't great lol

Man it's so annoying. And when you look at it from the side of the tank it looks nasty. I'm going to buy a stainless steel scraper and see if that'll help. You have you really bare down when using anything else the stuff won't come off unless you can get some pressure on it.

Ahh okay that's not the stuff I have then, as my brown algae comes off really quite easily... Unless I leave if for months then its a scraper job.

I googled brown algae and it looks exactly like he stuff on my glass. It's not real hard to scrub off it just doesn't come off with to easy.

lol.

prob phosphate issue in your water

Same here. Leaves white residue every time I do a water change. Switching to prime seems to help even if it's not suppose to.
