Ordered some Brown darters from aquaculturestore they arrived today and my wife put them in tank while I was at the office. Fast moving ,eating machines.

Wasnt easy to get pics as they dart around and my lighting is to yellow so will get better pics in few days but they are so neat that wanted to post some up now.

Though still small not adults the males have great red dots . They gobbled up live black worms.

4 for $30 which includes shipping but he has 2 for $15 also.
I am going to order more but might try some orange throat darters also.

Have to see if compatible with the brown darters.

It was 86 degrees today and I was afraid to hot for them in shiipping but they are fine and ate like hogs. Very cute darters

I havent found any brown darters in feeder tanks here maybe a swamp darter here or there but rare.

Your lucky if you find brown darters in your area but none in mine.
The pet stores in S.Florida in my area are deplorable for fish.
For exotics they are great but for fish they suck.

Your area sounds better. There are no darters in S.Florida this is cichlid stronghold . Further up North hours drive away is different story.

Its always fun for me to see someone elses newly found treasures :) Ive been keeping darters now for about 6 months or so and throughly enjoy them, i have a few different species in a 40 breeder, and they all co-exist nicely. I dont think you got hustled at all, I enjoy lots of species that i have no other means to come by other than to get them from a vendor. I have dealt with Paul on several occasions at sachs, and find him to be very helpful, honest, and as far as im concerned fair in his pricing. Of course if i could catch all the fish i want i would never buy any at all, but Value is in the eye of the beholder. Perhaps if some of the more fortunate Native keepers were willing to just go out and scoop up a few and send them to us we wouldnt have to buy so many . Good luck with your new darters, and i highly reccommend Paul Sachs.

nice pickup, and i agree with jim, you didnt get "hussled"

Well i think their swamp darters than but like 20 come in with each shipment of guppies. I thought there would be some in your area because the supplier is in that area.

If you ever get the chance to take a pic of the darters that you see in feeder tanks in your area that would be great .

You could very well have Brown darters but most darters in feeder tanks are swamp which are neat tiny darters. When I lived in NY they had them in feeder tanks.

I netted a few streams and ditches today caught what are either killies or minnows and hooked more than dozen Jewel cichlids but cant fathom darters in S.Florida just to many small killer cichlids and water way to hot.
