so it been i dont know how long since ive had this tank up and going now maybe since march ? (some time in the spring i started the tank up....i was having issue's with brown algea and ended up putting the algea eater in the tank to help control it ... well i still get brown on my glass but im getting green on the powerheads and few other things here and there in the tank little bit of green on couple white/red rocks....

but im still getting brown on my white sand, i have to vaccum everywere week to get rid of it seems to come back after like 3 days or so it starts to show, not sure what else to try and do .... i have tried cutting back on feeding to starve it, but my oscar get WAY to aggressive they just chase everyone around as well as chew and bite and beat the piss outta one another as well as others they can catch.... my lights are set for 8 hrs a day 7 days a week which is a 48" dual bulb t5h0 54watt bulb one one white and one blue on my 72"tank

all my parametres seem to be within reason, im not sure what else to do, i know i shouldnt be getting any brown algea or any type of gowth on my white sand at all....

Try lower wattage lights and shorten the time they are on. How much water do you change when you clean your tank and sand?

In terms of feeding don't starve the fish. Just do smaller feedings spread out through the day.

Hard to feed em smaller portions a day when they eat one 10mm pellet for supper usually each and that usually fills em up....

I've had this setup going for 6 months now, and haven't chaged the lights previous owner prolly never chaged the lights either.... I was told t5ho should be changed every 18 months or they start acting whacky... God only knows how old my lights really are ....

Your n03 may be high thus promoting algae growth, I have the same prob in a smaller tank, but its just bright lite.

I have a 90 literally 1" from a huge window and not a spec of algae. Weird. Maybe cuz its Bw and the lite can't penetrate the water?

Well was told to keep them on a reg scheduale of no more then 8hrs a day... And I do not have live plants...

why do you have your lights on so long? all it does is promote algae growth you should only turn on your lights to view the fish unless if you have live plants
