I thought it was a little too big as well and reminds me of a hobo spider. I'm not a spider expert but any brown spiders, well any spider really, get killed in my house. Definitely don't want to take the chance they're brown recluse..

Ok I just looked up hobo spiders to see better pics of them and I'm 100% sure it was a hobo. It says they are more native to the western us so I'm not sure how it got here in ct but I guess the warm weather helps. Just glad I killed it before it bit me or my son who was playing a few feet away.
