Brown stuff growing on new Driftwood?

Hey, so its growing back again... As one mentioned if it is from sap, what are the water quality issues that it might cause? I have a angelicus pleco L004 in the tank, not sure or not if he will eat the stuff, hasn't yet. I've been wanting to add another pleco, what species will eat this stuff? Will a gold nugget eat this as well as algae?
 
Haha that's what happened with mine no matter what I tried.I wasn't interested in plecos at the time but there are a few that I really like and would consider if I purchase any more driftwood.
 
I would imagine royal pleco's would make quick work of it. I had a Gold Nugget for a couple months, very cool fish, but I wouldn't say they eat anything with any confidence.

Not sure if they would eat the stuff or not but My two favorites are the Royal and the L25.
 
I've had similar issues with driftwood, as mentioned most plecs will take care of it but I've also used goldfish.
 
Goldfish,interesting but definitely wouldn't work in my tanks.
