I wish you luck with that fishing trip. I live on the south end of Bend near Sunriver. We are planning on taking a trip up there ourselves.

The Owyhee River where we catch those big Browns is over by Vale, about a 260 mile run from here but well worth it.

I had to look up the Owyhee River, it's about as far away from Silverton (where I live) you can get without leaving Oregon!

Wickiup is right in your backyard - any tips? :naughty: We're going in July, so I know we'll be fishing deep. We'll be trolling for the most part, I've heard that big bronze/gold Rapalas are the best bet.

Congratulations again on those fish, they're some real beauties!

Small? Are you kidding?

Those are some nice Browns, especially for a river. This summer we're planning a four-day trip to Wickiup Reservoir, hopefully we'll be catching some of the big Browns it's famous for!
they are small, heres a bellow average fish for my dad got one close to 12 pounds and just last week someone landed a 16 pounder. 12-16 pounders are average, every now and then theres a 19-20 pounder caught.

Different fish species in a different environment. In some mountain streams a nine-inch Cutthroat is a monster - Those are nice Brown Trout for a high-desert river.

I do think it is a little funny that you post a photo of you with a five pound fish but then state that "12-16 pounders are average".
