  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
try makin alot of teritorries and adding the opposite sex fish of similare size , they dont have to be the same kind of fish.

i have a female that was the same way until she met another jd. she still wasn't calm but after i put in an oscar she was calm.

Is your four foot tank a 55 gallon, 75 gallon, 90 gallon, or 120 gallon? That makes a difference as to what you can / should add, if anything.

Why is everybody talking about teaching the Dempsey a lesson. The poster has a 4 foot tank, so if you add any parachromis or amphilophus I think the dempsey may get killed.

No kidding. In a 4' tank the JD is probably going to establish the entire tank as his own territory. there's no such thing as "teaching him a lesson"...adding a larger, more aggressive fish will most likely wind up in the JD being killed because the larger fish will take over the entire tank as it's own territory.

No kidding, WTH! Adding a larger more aggressive fish is only going to cause a new set of problems.

have you tried a female JD?

or, you could just accept the fact and keep him as a solo wet-pet

I have to take back my original statement of not adding any other fish, because adding a female of a similar size is actually the best idea that has been posted in this thread IMO (& it is my opinion)

The only downfall would be if you didn't want to breed them there is a good chance that if the fish are compatible and your water condition & temp ect. were right you would most likely end up with fry.
