Your right, back on track... My Monos were about 6" tall and they had a lil meat. All Happy has a white/black one about 10"+ tall and it dont look to meaty. Maybe diff species??
Either way, ganna try to get some. Plus they grow rather quick or atleast at a good growth rate

Spill the beans meng!!! Is it in FW, brackish, or salt? 10 inches? That's friggin huge. Need MORE info. Only 2 species of Mono that I know of.... Argentinian (yellow fins) and Sebae. Black and silver would be a Sebae.

Wait... the yellow ones are the ones I had...
The one at All-Happy aquarium is in 100% freshwater with M.Irwinis, Bichirs, Aro and I beleive with a brycon all in the same tank.
Ill take a pic next time I go to his shop (might not be for a while but Ill take a shot). It is so big it looks deformed. Where the dodybends on his top fin, it looks like a knuckle bending and it is not that active:grinno:
He said he had a 12 or 13" Sabae before... but I never seen it in person

I have both. The Sebae seem to be a lot hardier and grow faster. When I had heard of them being FW tolerant that was captive bred Sebae ONLY. Don't know if the Argentinians are being captive bred. The LFS here could NOT kkep the Arg.s alive until they put them in straight SW. Doesn't sound like All Happy's 10 incher's all too happy....LOL. I know mine seem to be doing really well (They never stop moving and constantly extend and contract thier top fin) and my brackish is barely brackish at a rate of 2 TSP/ gallon. Might be able to hit the same salinity using FW salt a little heavier then recommended.

Im ganna try it and see what happends:D

I have aboout 8 or 9 Brycon Dentex together in a 110 gallon tank. From my experince, tankmates that are safe are big Silver Dollars, catfishes or some non silver fish like Anostumus. In my opinion, an Armatus or a Goliath will get killed with them since they are silver fish.

A lot of people say that you cannot shoal Brycon Dentex but I had mine since March of this year. They go at each other with a lot of force but really no harm except a lot of holes and slashes on the body. Smaller Brycon Dentex will probably will not make it with the bigger ones thou from what I see.

I had Dorados (Salminus) before. They were about 8 inches and not too big but they did get along with a lot of my fishes from what I remember.

Fish Vendors told me that they cannot shoal and they dont like each other. If you put several like three in a small 40 gallon tank, there is a high chance that they will harm each other. That is why the fish vendors seperate them rather than put them together and tell people they dont like each other.

And by the way, they go each at other a lot and there is no harmony at all.

LOL...Just thought about the title of the thread and I know someone is going to do a search in the future about Brycon and are ganna see a few pages of info and read this "Nothing to do with Brycon thread"

That just happened.
