brycon info

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I picked up a Brycon Dentex last night that is about 6". I added him to a tank with a ~4" GATF, a 10" Apollo shark, a 9" BGK, and 3 ~3" Mahseer.

There is a lot of chasing each other around, but hopefully that settles down. No one was dead this morning.

Only issue is that before all of my fish would readily eat pellets whenever I dropped them in, that is not the case now.
The previous owner of the Brycon fed him live, that is something I never plan on doing. So hopefully it is easy to convert.

I would watch that bgk. Most press can't resist the white tail. I have seen this combo work before, but watch them close.

Brycon are normally pretty easy to convert over to nonlive foods, they're known for readily accepting any food.

Yeah that is what I read before picking him up. It is just a weird situation because yesterday I pulled out the dithers I had (5 tinfoil barbs) in hopes that the mahseer could be the new dithers. Well, as of right now, nobody in the tank wants to eat pellets. I am guessing that is because of the stress all the fish feel from adding a new rather aggressive fish. Hopefully they will eat tonight or tomorrow. I don't want the Brycon to get hungry and try and take something out. But if it does happen it is my own fault and I will live with the consequences.

Have you tried frozen foods?
