I wanted to know if anyone has had success with multiple brycons in a large enough tank? Or are they too aggressive for more then one fish in the same tank
Jelly has Hilarii and Melanopterus together and I've kept Melanopterus (Sp. Sao Francisco).
They grow INSANELY fast. I got mine at 2" and it was 8" 3-4 months later and Jelly's were similar (won't speak on his behalf). I would say that they do better in groups simply because they keep themselves pre-occupied with their own squabbling. Keepnig one on its own with speciesas it's inadvised- they're busibodied and are constantly tagging and chasing everything any anything around them.
From what I've been seeing with my Dentex give the Brycon multiple targets so it doesn't just pick on 1 or 2 fish as they are quite the nippers and very energetic swimmers. Pretty much the same observations as Mynheers.
I have 3 who fight here and there but wanted to know if I should get two more to make it 5 in a 300galwith some cichlids that are passive but dont back down, what do you guys think?
