Bubble in silicone okay or not?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
^ thats where the problem lies, originally i thought it was the surface, then later realized its actually between the panes of glass and reaches down a little past the half way mark...

To make matters worse, when i press against the glass, i can see there is a bit of water trapped inside, and that it moves around quite a lot... There also seem to be other bubbles as well, and while not as bad, may not be worrh the risk in the long run...
In that case, its time for a new tank.

Just an update, tore the tank down and it seems i was lucky i did...

The back seam also seemed to be starting to fail, and some areas of the front panel, the silicone was almost completely separted to the bottom...

Here is a pic of the middle front panel section, and as you can see the silicone was pretty worn through...

^ You and i both... after tearing the whole thing down, i started pulling off bits of the silicone to see how easy the effected areas would come off VS the sides that were clearly fine, and the difference was amazing...

The parts that had basically worn out would come clean off with barely any effort, while the other non-effected areas would require a bit of a tug before a little bit would come off...

So now i'm going to be looking at replacing this tank with possibly an ADA tank if the prices aren't too crazy... which after making a few calls, seems they have come down a bit compared to a few years ago..

Those ada tanks are sick though, if I could justify it I probably wouldn't hesitate. It would have to be like a well fit wall unit or center piece or something, otherwise I'd probably wish I went for something bigger.

Yeah, ADA makes a tank exactly the same size as my old tank 36" X 18" X 18" which looks really nice...

So will be going out later looking at them in person to see just how much they really cost, and what sort of cabinet options i have...
