i know the availability of oxygen in the aquarium is very important, especially when dealing with "monster fish". i know the actual bubbles from air pumps dont actually add oxygen to the water, its the movement at the surface that creates the exchange. My question is why use bubble wands and stuff, which totally make the aquarium look unnatural, when anyone could easilly position there outflow of there filters to accomplish this, i do it in all my tanks and the filter output makes far more surface agitation than a bubble wand could ever do, so why use bubbles and a loud pump. is it that people just dont know and think you must have bubbles. seems like a useless piece of equipment to me, so, anyone have another opinion or comments? and i can totally understand battery pumps for when the power goes out, but otherwise, i dont understand
