Can barely see it. He'll be fine. Characins are super healers. ;)

Phew.. that's a relieve. I'll keep a close watch and see how it goes. Still wondering how he got it. The only thing in the tank to scratch against would be the powerhead/filter/aerator (The orange sponge in the back). I've got 2 of those on either side. Hopefully it doesn't happen again.

His scratch seems to be healing quite well. It's slow, but it was a pretty bad one. So another week or two, he should be scarless. :)
PHEW!!!

Finally caught a video of Bubbles having a meal. Only twice I've ever seen him eat during the day. Sorry about the poor quality, the only thing nearest to me I could grab was my phone, and it hasn't got zoom. When I got a little too close - well, he let me know that he wasn't happy about it, so I backed off.

Just lemme know if you can't see it.

Another video of Bubbles having a meal. It was evening, and the tank was dark, so it wasn't too clear. You can see the scales shimmering quite well around the tank after. And yes, am watching 5th Gear in the background.

That was a Golden Tin Foil Barb btw. So there's just one more left. He already went through a 3-inch Silver Shark this afternoon. Hopefully tomorrow afternoon, I'll be able to keep watch and get a good video of him hunting them down as well... a worthy use of my day off. :P

Nah, he went from 2-inches, to now just a little short of 12-inches. I think that's the fast bit of their growth. It's after a foot that they start to slow down, according to what I've read.

Is that how yours grew?

I never saw huge growth rate like you are experiencing but I also attempted to ween mine off live food at a relatively young age. I think this had to have been the most stubborn armatus to have ever lived. It took about 2 years to get him onto shrimp. The crazy thing is now both the GATF and Armatus will eat all prepared foods, including hikari algae wafers that are meant for my FRT. I will post pictures later tonight as I am having a getting out of hobby sale. Keep up the good work with your awesome fish.

You and Vamptrev had the slower growing armatus, right?

Yea I believe so. My armatus was one of if not the first batch to come in and has been grown from 1.5-2" to 20" currently. This has taken roughly 5 years but like I said he went through about 2 years of starving for a month at a time. He has lived in a 300 gallon from about 10" to current size so I don't think the tank discouraged his growth. I have a drip system as well so water quality is not it. If I had been feeding live this entire time I am certain both fish would be much bigger by now.
