Yes, the purigen should help, but I've never seen crushed coral cause any issues such as what you're experiencing.

They diminished through out the day. Just did a fin level wc

I had that promblem when I used aquasafe by tetra after water changes, then I switched to Prime and promblem solved, Prime has the fresh smell of rotten eggs LOL
