Hi all, there are bubbles forming where the fountain water hits the water surface.
What is the cause of this?
Will a protein skimmer help as some says it is not needed in a freshwater pond.
Please advice. Thanks.

A skimmer does help. This is nothing more than a intake at water level pulling the foam/bubbles off the surface. If your pond has a high bio load and WC is not on a regular basis foam will form. This would happen more in the early morning and certain time of year due to the activities of the organisms in the pond. If you use salt in the pond this would also cause the fish to produce more slim which in turn cause more foam.

Thanks kendragon.
So the protein skimmer should be placed in the pond itself or can be at the sump?
Does fallen leaves contribute to the form as well?
Intending to place a surface skimmer in to catch the fallen leaves. Will a surface skimmer help with the foam or issit another thing altogether?

All you need is a surface skimmer to catch both leaves and foam. This skimmer is like the ones you see in swimming pools.

I have a floating (round) skimmer in my mahseer pond.

I think you meant surface skimmer

Actually I meant floating because the center floats to skim the surface. As opposed to the wall mounted skimmer that have a weir.

was referring to OP's protein skimmer

guys, i think i might have lost you. so i should just get a floating surface skimmer?

Yes, get a surface skimmer not a protein skimmer.
