Bucket fish safe for water changes?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Buckets are so yesterday, get with the programme. Save your bucket money and put it to a syphon hose instead.

However, If you must go with the bucket, yes, it is 100% fish safe.
I was thinking about that, but when would I add the water conditioner?

I fill my tanks up with a hose pipe attached to the mixer taps on the kitchen sink. I get the temperature about right, a couple of degrees either way dosen't matter. As the tanks filling I add my dechlorinator straight to the tank. Always treat for the full tank volume and NOT just the amount you've changed out. As it's filling I occasionally switch my powerhead on to help mix it up. I've never had any issues doing it this way.

If you are talking about using a Python water changer system. You add the declorinator to your tank in the area that the fresh water is coming in at. Half of the declorinator at first, the other half when about 2/3rd refilled. Treat for total water volume, not just the amount of water changed.

That bucket will be fine ?
I'm old school I like to treat the water before it goes into the tank and like to get the temperature as close as possible so I use a bucket. I do two 50% water changes a week on a 125g which takes about 3 hours each time. I've got more control over it that way but that's just the way I do it.
