Bucket fish safe for water changes?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Most buckets are made of polyethylene and polypropylene which are both safe.
But as most have suggested, a python style hose would be alot more convenient. You don't have to buy the exact product you could make your own with clear hose and a few adapters, doesn't even have to be clear garden hose would work fine, just make sure it fits the adapters

So you will be carrying close to 10 gallons of water?! How is that less tiring than close to 4 gallons of water? I have a hard enough time carrying and lifting 4.5 gallons of water.

He said 10g bucket (singular), and 5g buckets (plural). All I can think of to make sense of his statement is that he has multiple 5g buckets on the go at once, which would be ever so tiring. Lol.

Why only a 10 gallon bucket may I ask?

I realized 20% water changes are not enough per week, so I changed them to 50% per week(about 4.5 gallons of water per bucket, so that like 5 trips of carrying water). And because I'm involved in lots of things, its more time consuming. Also I had a plan which I would use a pump, to pump the water from the bucket into the tank. I was thinking about a 10 gallon bucket because I didn't really think of anything at the time bigger than 10 gallons and smaller than a garbage can at the time. Now i'm thinking about not using a bucket, and instead just use the python for both putting in water, and taking it out.

If you are talking about using a Python water changer system. You add the declorinator to your tank in the area that the fresh water is coming in at. Half of the declorinator at first, the other half when about 2/3rd refilled. Treat for total water volume, not just the amount of water changed.
This is what i'm going to do instead, since it sounds less time consuming and costly.

just no reason not to. siphon out the door, window, tub what ever and vacuum tank at same time. hook up the hose, dial in the temp, dose tank and fill. its a no brainer sir. The harder something is to to do the more likely we are not going to do as often as we should and as well as we should. but do not take my word for it watch the video.
