ive had budgies years ago but they never lived more than 5 years at a time. i have some questions about them. soon i will get 2. should i get a nest for them? how often should i feed them millet?there is some exposed metal from sanding off rust on the bars of the cage-is this dangerous? should i paint over it with non toxic paint?
any help would be appreciated, thank you.

Millet, as well as their cuttle bone, should ALWAYS be in the cage....

lol.. who here knows anything about birds anyways? not that many threads about em...

yea parakeets, i'd definitley cover the rust just i case they decide to chew the bars cus some like to do that

for those who gave useful information, thanks. others just save my time and dont post anyting. budgies are what are known as parakeets at most pet stores in the US. they are not really parakeets at all, parakeets are much larger, look different and live longer. budgerigar is the name that they were given in their native land Australia. so that being said
bump
should i get them a nest??

If you are planning on getting a male and a female then yes get them a nest. If you are going to get 2 males or 2 females then no. Keep cuttlebone in the cage at all times, millit once a day (some like it too much then don't want to eat anything else which is not good obviously). If there is anything else you'd like to know feel free to ask and I'll do my best to help.
