Is it any harder to breed Buenos Aires and tiger barbs in harder higher pH water? Specifically around 7.5 or maybe even slightly higher.

I have raised the fry of Tiger barbs in higher PH but to induce them to spawn I have added some "PH down" when adding the adults to the breeding tank. I don't recall if I've tried without the "PH Down".
Alright cool, what are those barbs in your profile picture?
I have some pH down on hand. When they mature some more or I see a fat female I'm going to give it a shot by putting the pair in a 10 gallon.

You are the first person I know to describe them as carp shaped. They have some very unique things about them, first their dorsal fin has long filaments that eventually reach the base of their tail. They like to strut their stuff when showing off. They are very active and can sprint like lightning. I never attempt to net them unless I drop the water level first. They get more colorful as they get older, the greens and pinks spike when strutting their stuff. The males tail webbing turns red as well.
