ok so as some testers for the 125 i think i will use some buenos aires tetras. like 9 so now the question is will my cichlids eat them after they get in the tank? the cichlids will be jack dempseys, red texan, blood parrot, red tail cuda, pictus catfish, green terror, and bristlenose pleco. so will the tetras get eaten? i will buy them as 2 inchers, i hear they get like 4 inches and get slightly bitey? is this true? thnx, oh and any oictures of your buenos aires tetra schools would be much appreciated, or just post how many you have. thnx...

from my experience, depending on the size of the JD, they have a huge appetite and they alone would prob wipe out the tetras. I believe the same would apply to Texas as well.

ok, but what if the tank has plenty of cover, i mean people keep tiger barbs with midas? so why cant a 4 inch tetra be ok with some female jd's? i mean if i get like a dozen ba's wouldn't that be ok? thnx

Nah I don't think they'll get eaten, mostly liked killed or chased.

that bristlenose is a little small compared to the rest of your stock i would think

You should be fine. once you get a school of Tetras they group together and if the JD's or anything else try to attack the Tetras they just split into many different directions. i have some in my tank with Blue Rams and they live together just fine. JD's are different from rams but it is basically the same principal. it is a good way for the more aggresive fish to get rid of energy and take out there aggression.

dithers as many tetras are known by to people with aggressive cichlids are schooling fish in large numbers when attacked can disorientate and confuse the predator (jack dempsey) this would keep your tetras on edge, and probably stressed, but your jack dempsey may be alot more docile and less aggressive, plus the buenos ares tetra gets big enough to be borderline too large for the jack dempsey to consume. your tetras should be fine.

EDIT: the redtail cuda may be the outside factor in this matter though, depends on size, if you want a good shoal, and a safe one, do a shoal of about 7-10 silver dollars.
