Peat moss just lowers pH and adds a little tea discoloration to yoiur water, I dont think you want that.
You better go with a little crushed coral or pick up some natural slate tiles from home depot they are about a buck fiddy for a square foot or some limestone something that can leech into the water and raise the pH.
