Bug experts?

Went outside a little while ago and found this guy. Built like a bee but the colors are crazy, I've never seen one before. Any idea what it is?

Thats a cool little bee. I love insects but I don't know too much about the species and all.

Reminds me of the horse flies we had in idaho. They bite so hard they draw blood.

Thanks I knew MFK could deliver. We have all manner of biting and stinging insects here. I see lots of bees, hornets, wasps, yellow flies, and what not but this one is new to me.
Edit: after a little research, it was a female Augochlora pura

I find these all the time. They're pretty little bees, and their stings aren't that painful.

Looks like a Halictid Bee or some relative of a seat bee. Def a bee tho.
