I was doing a water change in my convict breeder tank and discovered under the glass lid are about a dozen little nats. They almost look like little fruit flies or regular nats only a couple of millameters long. Does anyone know what these are and how to get rid of them? Thanks!:nilly:

archerfish. XD
Seriously though. Put a jar lid full of honey on top of the tank. They get stuck in it.

Howdy,

They are most likely Springtails:

They are not harmful and live off organic residues on the water surface and any equipment (plants, cork bark) that reaches above the surface. There is no way to get rid of them. Consider it an increase in biodiversity of your tank.

Okay, that rules out Springtails. How about fruitflies?

Anything winged that can infest your house requires serious attention. I suggest to wipe down everything above the watersurface. Daily. Until they're gone.

get a frog. get a frog to keep under the hood. name him fred and train fred to eat the little bugs. when they are all gone you can feed fred to your piranha.
